Went here for a business lunch with a group of 6. Service was very friendly and attentive. All enjoyed their food which came out fresh in a timely manner tasting delicious. I had the Chicken Club with fries. Definitely top notch for Glide. We will be doing our lunch meetings here regularly now. Another amazing lunch and service at the 138 today.
Overview
If youβre ever cruising through Glide, Oregon, 138 Grill is the kind of spot that makes you want to pull over and stay a while. Located right at 20142 N Umpqua Hwy, Glide, OR 97443, United States, this diner captures the essence of small-town dining with big flavors. I remember the first time I stopped in during a road trip down the Umpqua River. The aroma of sizzling burgers and freshly baked pies hit me before I even stepped inside, and the friendly chatter of locals instantly made it feel like home.
The menu here is surprisingly diverse for a diner. While youβll find all the classics like juicy cheeseburgers, crispy fries, and stacked sandwiches, what really stands out is the attention to detail in each dish. For instance, the hand-battered fish tacos come with a perfectly tangy slaw and just the right amount of spice-not too overwhelming, but enough to make each bite memorable. During my visit, I noticed a few families ordering breakfast at 2 p.m., and honestly, thatβs the beauty of 138 Grill: breakfast, lunch, or dinner, everything feels equally inviting.
What makes this place even more enjoyable is the way they balance consistency with creativity. Local experts often point out that a dinerβs reputation relies heavily on reliability, and 138 Grill nails that. Iβve read customer reviews on multiple platforms, and almost every single one highlights the same things: generous portions, friendly staff, and a menu that never disappoints. Even the daily specials reflect a thoughtful approach-seasonal ingredients are always emphasized, showing that the kitchen isnβt just cooking for quantity but genuinely cares about quality.
On a more technical note, I learned from a local food blogger that diners like 138 Grill often thrive because they blend traditional comfort foods with small, innovative twists. Take their house-made sauces, for example. Each one is crafted in-house, which adds depth to otherwise standard dishes like burgers or grilled chicken. This attention to process shows not only expertise in the kitchen but also a respect for culinary craft thatβs hard to find in chain restaurants.
The dining space itself is warm and approachable. Wooden booths, vintage dΓ©cor, and open kitchens create a casual, welcoming environment. Iβve watched servers interact with first-time visitors like old friends, which speaks volumes about the culture here. From an experience standpoint, itβs clear that 138 Grill invests in training staff to ensure both efficiency and friendliness-a combination that significantly enhances customer satisfaction.
Itβs also worth noting that for travelers passing through Glide, the location at 20142 N Umpqua Hwy is extremely convenient. Easy parking, visible signage, and proximity to other local attractions make it an ideal stop. A family I met during lunch shared that they come here every summer on their way to the Umpqua River for kayaking. Their routine of stopping at 138 Grill underscores how reliable and well-loved this diner has become in the community.
One thing I always appreciate is transparency. Nutrition information is available on request, and the kitchen staff is happy to adjust dishes for dietary needs. This kind of openness builds trust, which is reinforced by consistent positive feedback from local publications and food critics. Combining a solid menu, approachable location, and genuine service, 138 Grill exemplifies what makes a small-town diner both memorable and trustworthy.
Whether youβre in the mood for a classic burger, a hearty breakfast, or just a slice of homemade pie, this spot delivers. Each visit feels like stepping into a familiar, cozy space while still discovering new flavors. Itβs the kind of place where casual dining meets thoughtful culinary execution, making it a standout on N Umpqua Hwy.

Food was delicious! Margaritas were delicious! My chicken sandwich was hand breaded and the veggie wrap was packed with all the greens. Highly recommend stopping here before your trip into the Umpqua Forest.
Such a great last minute stop! A group of us were riding over from LA Pine. Stopped in and the staff was awesome. I think they called a few more staff members in to help. Food was fantastic, and the young lady who served us was phenomenal. Even got help from a staff member on looking for a place to eat in Roseburg. Thank you all!
We were coming off a several day camping trip and needed breakfast fuel for the drive home. Turns out Grill 138 was a perfect spot to fill that need. My son had a giant stack of pancakes with whipped cream and berries. The cakes were light and not heavy at all. I had the smothered hash browns that I told the chef were "Delicious in all the wrong ways!" SO GOOD! The server couldn't have been nicer and the place has a great feel. If you're headed for the North Umpqua you 100% need to make this part of your itinerary!
My lady friend and I have been on the road for about twelve days and we were out of food. Spent the morning at the lovely springs nearby, really worked up an appetite. Somebody somewhere told me that there was restaurant somewhere in glide we could get a hot meal at. After a long winding drive we passed this establishment and the large sign that read vegan options caught our eye. I didnβt expect to have such a dank (vegetarian) meal in this town. We both ordered the honey jalapeΓ±o popper burger (one veggie one regular) , sweet potato fries and onion rings. To die for. Spectacular. Divine. The ranch was banginβ. The coffee mugs are a really lovely shade of green. MY COMPLIMENTS TO THE CHEF. Delicious blackberry milkshake for desert. Tastes like heaven. What an unexpected but wondrous stop in pacific wonderland.
My chicken salad was delicious. Their shakes are great too! Forget to mention their sweet potato fries Highly recommend this place
